Mike Elko has already made a couple of big splashes in his first full recruiting cycle at Texas A&M. On Friday, the Aggies struck again.

Lancaster (Calif.) Quartz Hill four-star cornerback Adonyss Currie committed to Texas A&M. He is the nation’s No. 65 overall prospect, No. 7 cornerback and No. 3 recruit from California in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

“I think for starters he has an outstanding combination of stature and speed,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power said of Currie. “His top-end speed stacks up with anybody in the cycle at corner. He’s proven to be fluid and coordinated in coverage situations.

“We’ve had a chance to see him in person a few times already,” Power said. “He’s looked good in the neutral settings against top receivers and backs that up on Friday nights.

“When you look at his speed he consistently runs in the sub 11.0s and 10.5 range at his best. His physical traits project really well at the position.”

Texas A&M Class Breakdown

Corona (Calif.) Centennial five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet is a centerpiece addition for Elko and Co.

Now the No. 5 QB in the On3 Industry Ranking, Longstreet committed on April 14. He was one of two prospects to commit on the day, as he followed Denton (Texas) Ryan four-star interior offensive lineman Marcus Garcia.

Four offensive linemen are currently in the class. Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland four-star offensive tackle Jonte Newman and Prosper (Texas) three-star IOL Connor Carty also committed in April, while Spring (Texas) Legacy three-star IOL Joshua Moses was the first to commit, doing so last August.

Katy (Texas) Paetow four-star cornerback Deyjhon Pettaway is a top-25 corner in the cycle. DeSoto (Texas) four-star running back Deondrae Riden is a top-20 tailback and provided a recruiting boost with his pledge in February. Forney (Texas) four-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins is the No. 294 recruit in the nation, while Cypress (Texas) Cy-Fair four-star defensive lineman Landon Rink kicked off the Aggies’ big April.

Pearland (Texas) Shadow Creek four-star CB Cobey Sellers became the newest addition to the class prior to Currie on May 11, as he chose the Aggies over Texas and Oklahoma. Sellers is a top-200 pledge and the No. 19 CB in the nation.
