'Thank you': £25m Leeds United player all but confirms he will not be making his loan move permanent

Leeds United will have a better idea on how their summer transfer window will look after tomorrow.

The Whites are set to face Southampton in the Championship play-off final at Wembley in what is their last chance of securing a place in next season’s Premier League.

Victory in the capital would lead to a considerably more exciting summer, as more focus would be on who comes into the club, rather than who goes out. Kalvin Phillips is among several players to have already been linked.

On the other hand, 49ers Enterprises have already acknowledged key player sales would be needed if Leeds stay down, amid the 10 per cent reduction in parachute payments and the need to comply with the EFL’s more stringent PSR constraints.

It is said Leeds would have to raise £100 million in sales this summer with prized assets Crysencio Summerville and Archie Gray among those likely to attract interest.

Brenden Aaronson all but confirms Leeds return

Though some important members of the current squad would have to leave, Leeds will also be able to sell some of those who have been out on loan.

The Whites are confident Jack Harrison, Max Wober, Marc Roca and Diego Llorente have done enough to be sold permanently, which would help raise some decent funds.

It is unlikely any of them will be welcomed back this summer and so irrespective of what happens at Wembley, they could go anyway.

However, one of the Leeds loanees facing a far more uncertain summer is Brenden Aaronson, whose loan spell at Union Berlin came to an end last weekend after he narrowly helped them to survival.

Aaronson scored just two goals and provided two assists during his time in Germany, which has always made a permanent move seem unlikely, even if he has improved recently.

And after Union confirmed he would not be joining permanently earlier this week, the 23-year-old appears to have echoed that on his Instagram.

He wrote: “Thank you @1.fcunion for taking me in as family this past season. We couldn’t have done it without the relentless positivity from the unbelievable fan base and resilience from each player and staff. I learned so much from this team and will always be grateful to say I was a part of such an amazing club.”

Leeds could sell Aaronson for significant loss

And although Union may not be signing him permanently, it is difficult to see him being given a chance back at Leeds based on some of Daniel Farke’s comments after Luis Sinisterra’s permanent exit.

Leeds spent £25 million to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg almost exactly two years ago, but it appears as though they are prepared to make a loss on him this summer.

49ers Enterprises will reportedly ask for just £10 million to sell him, which is a pretty staggering loss in such a short space of time.

However, it certainly feels as though it is the right time to let him go with there simply no way back for him at Elland Road.
