Report: Everton considering move for midfielder who's been 'reborn' after Premier League nightmare

Everton are now showing interest in a player who only left Liverpool last summer after a failed spell on Merseyside.

Premier League survival ended up being secured fairly comfortably for the Toffees with Sean Dyche‘s side finishing 14 points ahead of Luton Town.

Financial concerns may still surround the club ahead of the summer transfer window opening, though, with suggestions that the club need to sell players before the end of next month.

Everton have a number of players who could demand significant money this summer with Jarrad Branthwaite of interest within the Premier League.

The England international is believed to be valued in the region of £80m by the Toffees as they hope to keep their central defender.

However, it is not all talk of potential exits from Goodison Park ahead of the summer with one former Liverpool player said to be on their radar.

Everton considering offering Liverpool flop second chance in Premier League

It is not just Branthwaite who is being linked with a potential move away from Everton this season with Amadou Onana also a possible departure.

The Belgian midfielder is a player who would also demand a considerable sum of money to leave Everton this summer.

A fee in excess of £50m is what is being reported with interest from Premier League sides expected ahead of the summer.

With Onana marking a possible exit from the Everton midfield department over the coming months, a former Premier League midfielder is now being linked with a potential return to England.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Everton are one of the Premier League clubs who have Arthur Melo on their radar.

West Ham United are the other Premier League side who may offer the 27-year-old with a landing spot back in England.

The Brazilian is currently playing his football in Serie A with Fiorentina where he is picking up some regular game time on loan from Juventus.

But a change in manager in Turin is expected to cause his time with the Old Lady to come to an end.

Arthur struggled massively during his time at Liverpool

Injury plagued Arthur’s time on Merseyside when he joined 2022 after surgery caused him to miss 145 days of action.

Here is a summary of his time at Anfield.

Statistics via Transfermarkt.

Taking a gamble on Arthur would seem a considerable risk from Everton considering his previous experience on Merseyside.

The 2023/24 campaign has been more promising for the midfielder who has made 47 appearances for Fiorentina across all competitions.

Journalist Alvise Cagnazzo has even suggested the midfielder has been ‘reborn’ during his time on loan with Fiorentina.

That would suggest his injury issues are behind him now, however, it would be a real own goal for Everton if they signed the Brazilian and he did not prove to be a success.
