Man Utd fans have a lot to say about Sofyan Amrabat after FA Cup final win vs Man City, a ‘promise’ has been made

Manchester United fans’ reaction to Sofyan Amrabat spoke volumes after his performance against Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday.

The Red Devils avenged their 2023 FA Cup final defeat after Manchester United secured a 2-1 win over Premier League champions Manchester City.

Alejandro Garnacho fired United into the lead in the first half after a City howler before Kobbie Mainoo doubled the Red Devils’ lead only nine minutes later.

Following the impressive first-half performance, United fended off an onslaught of attack from City until Jeremy Doku pulled one back for Pep Guardiola’s men.

Despite City levelling the scores at 1-1 in the 87th minute, United picked up the ultimate bragging rights over their crosstown rivals at the full-time whistle.

Erik ten Hag lifted the FA Cup at Wembley after falling short of the trophy last season, with the United boss’ future at Old Trafford still shrouded in mystery.

United players impressed with their display in the FA Cup final after a lacklustre Premier League campaign, which saw the Red Devils finish in eighth place.

However, Sofyan Amrabat’s performance caught the eye of fans and United supporters had their say on the Fiorentina loanee.

Amrabat makes an impact vs Man City

Sofyan Amrabat arrived on deadline day last summer after Manchester United agreed a season-long loan deal with Serie A side Fiorentina.

The 27-year-old, who played under Erik ten Hag at Utrecht, has struggled to consistently deliver for the Red Devils in the 2023-24 season.

Amrabat has played out of position at times and even slotted in as a makeshift left-back earlier in the season when Luke Shaw was sidelined due to injury.

The Morocco international has made 30 appearances across all competitions, but he has not scored or registered a single assist for the Red Devils during his loan spell.

United have the option to buy Amrabat on a permanent deal for £21.4m, but the Red Devils midfielder is likely to return to Fiorentina this summer.

However, Amrabat has shown his worth towards the end of the season after securing regular playing time and being partnered alongside Kobbie Mainoo.

The Fiorentina loanee impressed during the 3-2 Premier League win over Newcastle at Old Trafford last week before disappointing in the 2-0 victory against Brighton.

However, Amrabat was in scintillating form for the FA Cup final and the Morocco star showed off his workhorse engine on the pitch after he started in midfield.

Amrabat saw out the full 90 minutes and was a constant presence, all the while looking confident on the ball and putting in a defensive shift at times.

Man Utd fans react to Amrabat in FA Cup final

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, dropped incredible praise on Amrabat for his overall performance in the FA Cup final.

Some Red Devils supporters called him the “best player on the pitch” and felt he showed shades of his performances from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

However, other United fans said the Red Devils wouldn’t win against City without him and ‘promised’ not to forget his sudden burst of form at the end of the season.

“For me, the best player on the pitch. What a performance from Amrabat,” one fan said.

Someone else wrote: “Shoutout to Amrabat as well, fantastic performance today, which has gone very unnoticed. Was composed with the ball and solid defensively. Nice way to end his United loan spell.”

Another posted: “Amrabat was incredible today, he deserves huge praise as without him today we don’t win.”

“Amrabat, take a bow. I can’t believe the performance I’ve seen from him. Chased City off the park. Absolutely fantastic,” a fourth tweeted.

While a fifth commented: “City fans ridiculed Amrabat for his last outing at the Etihad for him to dunk on their whole midfield today and play a huge part in winning us the Cup. Love to see it.”

“Amrabat, I promise we won’t forget this end-of-season form,” another added.

A seventh said: “This is the Amrabat I was watching at the World Cup.”

And an eighth argued: “When his team and the whole Manchester United fans needed him the most, Amrabat showed up. Respect, king.”
