Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals thoughts on Arne Slot's arrival

Trent Alexander-Arnold has backed Liverpool's decision to hire Arne Slot as Jurgen Klopp's replacement this summer.

While it had been widely known for some time that Slot was destined to succeed Klopp, his official unveiling as the new head coach at Anfield didn't occur until Monday.

The 45-year-old's resolve to guide Liverpool towards a fresh era of triumph is palpable, with the club's vice-captain, Alexander-Arnold, now openly endorsing Slot following his emotional reaction to Klopp's departure.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Alexander-Arnold said: "I have trust in the club and who we've appointed. As a player that's all you can ask for [a smooth transition]. You have to have trust in who the higher ups have brought in."

Slot arrives at Anfield with an impressive CV having won the Eredivisie with Feyenoord last season, the KNVB Cup this season, and come runners-up in the Europa Conference League in 2021/22.

Alexander-Arnold's future will soon become a topic of conversation at Anfield as the right-back approaches the final 12 months of his contract.

Talks over an extension had been delayed until after Liverpool found their new manager, and 90min understands both parties are completely relaxed about the situation despite the short amount of time remaining on Alexander-Arnold's deal.

Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation but are well aware that Alexander-Arnold will only be available if he makes an active effort to leave Liverpool which, as it stands, is highly unlikely.
