Alejandro Garnacho labels teammate 'best player in the squad' after Manchester United lift FA Cup

Alejandro Garnacho was talking after Manchester United lifted the FA Cup on Saturday and picked out one player as the club’s best.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon at Wembley, Manchester United made it a 13th FA Cup trophy, beating rivals Manchester City in the process.

It was a day for Carrington to rejoice as two graduates scored the two goals which got United over the line, Alejandro Garnacho being the first, opening the scoring in the 30th minute.

It was 2-0 just nine minutes later as Kobbie Mainoo finished off a fine United move to score what turned out to be the winner and handed United silverware in the process.

But post-game, it was Garnacho who had something to say as he picked out which of his teammates is the best at the club.

Alejandro Garnacho has a message for Kobbie Mainoo

After the game, Garnacho was interviewed by the BBC alongside Mainoo as he had some words of praise for his friend and teammate.

“Incredible”, Garnacho began when asked just how good Mainoo is before he continued to make a bold but potentially true claim over his 19-year-old teammate.

“The best player in the squad and he’s the youngest. We’re also good friends. I’m so happy for him.”

Mainoo deserves the praise and Garnacho was far from the only person giving the midfielder his flowers after that performance.

Erik ten Hag was also praising his star player and game-winner after the trophy had been lifted.

He was really so enjoyable to watch. At his age. He’s an example. We wanted him to come in and he got a bad injury in pre-season.”

Mainoo and Garnacho are already superstars for Manchester United

There is something special about these two players, beyond their incredible ability, both seem to have the correct mentality to succeed at United.

At 19, both act so maturely and come across incredibly well in interviews, even during emotional moments such as the aftermath of a trophy win.

The pair are irreplaceable in this team and they could very well go on to become legends of the club if they are to continue along this path.

To already be the two stars of a team like United, as teenagers, is so impressive and it’s hard to imagine this club in 2024 without the pair.
