As we move to Day 5 of the 2024 SEC Baseball Tournament, the event has been a hoot thus far, and the level of competition only strengthened during Saturday’s Semifinal matchups.
By virtue of a win over Kentucky on Friday, South Carolina advanced to the Semifinals, where they’d match up with LSU.
Elsewhere, Tennessee defeated Mississippi State on Friday, setting up a rematch with Vanderbilt in the Semifinals on Saturday evening. Earlier in the tournament, the Volunteers fell to the Commodores by nine runs, so they’ll be looking for some revenge against Vanderbilt when the first pitch is thrown.
In what will go down as the craziest game in the tournament, LSU took down South Carolina to send the Tigers to the championship game. A walk-off home run after a balk being called in the top half of the 10th inning was a fitting ending — one LSU will remember for a long, long time.
The day wrapped up with a fun rivalry game, also being the second matchup between the two in Hoover. But this one was a different result, with Tennessee taking down Vanderbilt. We now have our championship matchup set, shaping up to be a great one.
