Kyle Busch on penalties for Ricky Stenhouse Jr.: ‘Doesn’t matter whether I agree or not’

About a week later and Kyle Busch has not changed his mind about what happened on the track at North Wilkesboro. The NASCAR world was sent into a frenzy with the Ricky Stenhouse Jr. fight.

Kyle Busch hasn’t said a lot about the fight at North Wilkesboro. This week he can’t really avoid it since he has media obligations. Busch had on his sunglasses and kept a cool head while answering questions quickly and bluntly.

When asked if he felt the penalties to Stenhouse were appropriate, this is how he answered.

“It doesn’t matter whether I agree or not, NASCAR makes the penalties,” Busch said, via Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports. He followed up when asked again, “NASCAR makes the penalties, so…”

Then he was asked about the lead-up to the fight and if anything could have gone differently.

“Maybe but I walked into the situation and just, it was calm to start and then escalated from there.”

Kyle Busch has not changed his mind about the incident and he has not spoken to Stenhouse since the incident. So, it seems that they are still not on great terms. Busch doesn’t want to be fighting Stenhouse anymore, though.

“I don’t need to fight with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. I need to fight with the top three guys so I can start winning some races.”

As for what Richard Childress said about Stenhouse, Busch was happy his team owner had his back. Who wouldn’t be?

“That’s Richard, I mean, it’s fine. He’s given [us] support and having our back, so I appreciate that.”

This is a developing story…
