Marcel Sabitzer sends message to ‘machine’ Manchester United star after FA Cup win

Manchester United have defeated Manchester City to win the FA Cup, after losing last year’s final.

Injuries have been the story of Manchester United‘s season, but at the end of 2022/23, there were lots of issues building too.

Lisandro Martinez, Antony and Marcel Sabitzer were all ruled out of last year’s final. United ended up declining the chance to sign Sabitzer permanently.

A year on, Sabitzer is heading to the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, after joining them last summer. While Manchester United are now 2024 FA Cup champions.

Marcel Sabitzer praises Man Utd star

There may be a few Manchester United players watching next week’s Champions League final, to see how Sabitzer and Jadon Sancho get on.

This week, it was Sabitzer watching United, and he was taken with one Manchester United player, who has been non-stop throughout the season.

The Austrian responded to a message from Diogo Dalot, who had penned on social media: “Manchester United, you will never die.”

Sabitzer had a simple message to pay his respect to Dalot, writing: “Machine”.

Dalot outstanding once again

Diogo Dalot was filling in at left-back again, with Manchester United dealing with ongoing injuries keeping Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out.

Against City he was tireless once again, staying mostly in his own half, and doing everything that was required of him defensively.

  • 100% Tackles Won (2/2)
  • 7 Clearances
  • 5 Recoveries
  • 1 Interceptions
  • 2 Successful Dribbles

The Portugal international has made exactly 50 appearances for Manchester United this season, 48 of which have been starts.

He has been absolutely essential, the one defender who has managed to stay fit througout the campaign.

Sabitzer’s description of him as a ‘machine’ is well earned.
