Football: Japan trio help Celtic beat Rangers to win Scottish Cup

Celtic saw off archrivals Rangers 1-0 to lift the Scottish Cup on Saturday after the Japan trio of Daizen Maeda, Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate all started the final.

Substitute Adam Idah, who came on for Furuhashi in the 61st minute, tapped in the rebound in the 90th minute to secure Celtic the league and cup double at Hampden Park in Glasgow.

Maeda played the full 90 minutes, while Hatate came off in the 77th minute as Celtic won the Scottish Cup for the second straight season and for the 42nd time.

"It was a very tense game, a real nail-biting game at 0-0," manager Brendan Rodgers said on their official website

"But the players' mentality to come through the game and win it just really typifies how they've been over the course of the season, so I'm so proud of them and it's an amazing day for the club."
