Lou Macari reacts to Manchester United FA Cup win, disagrees with Pep Guardiola

Manchester United’s players are on cloud nine after ending a difficult season with a highly deserved FA Cup win.

After a very difficult Premier League season, and a woeful Champions League and defence of the Carabao Cup, the FA Cup presented Manchester United’s last chance in 2024.

Erik ten Hag‘s side fought for it with everything they could. After knocking Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool out in the quarter-final, we defeated Pep Guardiola’s City in the final.

Talk about doing it the hard way. Manchester United can now enjoy it, ending a hard season on a high.

Manchester United win deserved

Manchester United’s win will go down as a truly memorable day. Beating City is not easy. Beating City in a final is even tougher, as the team discovered last year

Former Manchester United player Lou Macari provided his reaction to the team’s victory.

Macari wrote on X: “What a terrific result for United against the league champions. Worked so hard defensively and took enough chances to get a deserved win.

“Always brilliant to see a red shirt lifting that wonderful old trophy at Wembley and our fans deserve that day out.”

Macari is spot on, it really was ‘brilliant’ to see Manchester United’s players lap up the victory and celebrate on the pitch.

Pep Guardiola had a different view

Lou Macari noted that Manchester United’s win was ‘deserved’, and every Manchester United supporter would agree, and many neutrals.

Pep Guardiola had a different, blue-slanted view. He hit out and blasted United as a ‘transition team’ and insisted City deserved to win.

Sounds like sour grapes to us. All the odds were against Manchester United, who came into the game with a patched up team, with some players back from injury, but in theory lacking match sharpness due to a lack of action.

It didn’t show. United were sharper, more committed, and simply better. Let’s enjoy it.
