£34m Arsenal talent hasn’t impressed Mikel Arteta in training and could be sold this summer

One Arsenal player could now be set for a summer exit having failed to impress his manager Mikel Arteta in training this season.

It seems as if it will be a busy off-season for the Gunners, and Edu Gaspar will have an extensive list of problems to solve.

Perhaps it’s harsh to consider that this Arsenal squad does have issues given all they’ve achieved this season, but ultimately silverware didn’t arrive at the Emirates.

And given that Mikel Arteta now has several talented players on the periphery of things in north London, it certainly seems as if a reshuffle is needed.

Aaron Ramsdale is an obvious name linked with a departure, a player who is incredibly unfortunate to have lost his place this season.

And then there are the likes of Emile Smith Rowe and Eddie Nketiah, two Hale End Academy graduates who may make a reluctant switch to become integral to another project.

However, a name that is seldom mentioned is that of Fabio Vieira.

The £34m-signing was met with incredible excitement by both Arteta and Edu back in 2022, but he’s yet to deliver anything tangible.

Fabio Vieira has failed to take chances in Arsenal training and could now be sold

Vieira obviously has a ton of talent, but hasn’t been handed the minutes some may have imagined after his injury return.

And according to a new report from The Athletic, that is partly because the Portugal youth international hasn’t impressed in training.

Vieira was an unused sub in 14 of Arsenal’s last 17 games and seems to have almost no role under Arteta right now.

And according to the information mentioned, either Vieira or Smith Rowe could leave this summer, depending on who generates more interest.

It would be a huge shame to watch Vieira go, simply because he promised so much and yet we’ve seen so little.

The highlight of the midfielder’s Arsenal career to date must be his cameo against Fulham earlier this season, one that looked like it would ignite his season, only for his next few months to then be injury ravaged.

But with Arsenal set to make new signing this summer, perhaps even looking at an attacking midfielder from Paris Saint Germain, there seems little chance of a Vieira renaissance.
