Alan Myers outlines what he has just heard about the future of Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Everton will be hoping for a positive summer, but well aware that they may have to suffer a few setbacks before they can build for the future.

After all, given the PSR burden they still hold, major departures are expected.

So, when Jarrad Branthwaite or Amadou Onana departs, hypothetically, there is likely to be a meltdown of sorts given the gaping vacancies they will leave.

However, it is worth noting that Kevin Thelwell has performed admirably enough to earn the fans’ trust, and hopefully he can repay them by finding capable alternatives for whatever necessary sales are made.

One particular exit that might be hardest to replace though is Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and so with every new update the fanbase stands holding its breath.

Alan Myers issued Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer update

Fortunately, Alan Myers has now offered the latest on the striker’s future, as a reliable and informative source of Everton news.

Having reported on his beloved blues for many years now, largely for Sky Sports, it is no wonder he is so respected around Goodison Park.

Many hang on his every word, and as such he has done little to dissuade Evertonians from believing in his claims.

So, to see him state that Calvert-Lewin is unlikely to leave at this moment is promising, as he replied to one fan question on X.

Asked if he knew much about the 27-year-old’s future and if the club had received any bids, Myers simply wrote: ‘Not heard anything’.

No Everton striker compares to Dominic Calvert-Lewin

As justified earlier this week, no Everton striker compares to Calvert-Lewin.

He is simply that important.

As a towering frontman, many might foolishly assume that all he is good for is winning headers and flick-ons.

However, his skillset is far more varied than that, and compared to the likes of Chris Wood, Ashley Barnes and Sam Vokes, who Sean Dyche enjoyed at Burnley, his superior quality is apparent.

After all, he remains as proficient in the air as that hulking trio, but has blistering speed to go with it as well as a fine first touch.

But even at times this season he has revealed his penchant for running with the ball, and against Burnley and Arsenal he enjoyed long, driving runs before firing towards goal.

He is undoubtedly still developing his game, and a return of seven goals barely scratches the surface of what we know he is capable of.

Arguably, keeping ahold of Calvert-Lewin will be Thelwell’s most important achievement this summer, potentially even tying him down to a new contract too.
