Report: How much money Newcastle actually made from their trip to Australia

There is now clarity about Newcastle United’s season.

Days after the Premier League campaign to have resulted in a seventh-placed finish, Newcastle discovered their fate when it came to European football next term.

Indeed, Manchester United’s shock win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final means Eddie Howe and his side will not be granted entry into continental competition of any means next time out.

The likes of Gareth Southgate and Kieran Trippier expressed reservations about the trip and for good reason.

Newcastle’s owners have been frustrated about FFP for months

As far back as the January transfer window, there were reports claiming Newcastle’s owners were making it clear they felt as if they were being held back by the FFP rules.

It was even said there was a belief amongst them, as well as other clubs, that they were simply there to preserve the status quo amongst the current elite.

With that in mind, perhaps its not so surprising that they’d go to such lengths to try and bring more money into the club…
