'Bore off': Jermaine Beckford reacts hilariously as Michael Bridges predicts Leeds and Southampton final

Jermaine Beckford and Michael Bridges have given their predictions as Leeds United take on Southampton in the Championship play-off final, and Bridges’ guess hilariously annoyed Beckford.

Leeds and Southampton do battle for a third time this season as Daniel Farke finally looks to get one over Russell Martin after losing twice previously, having managed Martin while he was a player at Norwich.

A place in the Premier League is at stake, the chance to join Leicester City and Ipswich Town in securing promotion to the top tier from this season’s Championship at the first attempt for both clubs today.

Plenty have given their predictions, with Troy Deeney and Graeme Souness disagreeing with Simon Jordan on the same podcast. Deeney and Souness thinks Leeds will get the better of Southampton.

Leeds have some momentum back after two clean sheets in a row and a 4-0 win over Norwich, but The Saints come into the game in good form after beating West Brom in the play-off semi-finals, 3-1.

Beckford and Bridges predict Leeds to beat Southampton

Beckford and Bridges, two former Leeds strikers, gave their predictions on the LUTV play-off final preview show this weekend ahead of Sunday’s clash and as you might imagine, both predicted Leeds wins.

But, Bridges thinks the game will go into extra-time before Leeds go on to win 3-2 and that prediction prompted a hilarious response from Beckford, who thinks Leeds will secure a 3-1 win in 90 minutes.

Beckford predicted: “90 minutes, 3-1 Leeds,” before Bridges than gave his: “Extra-time, someone is going to win the game for Leeds, off the bench, 3-2 win,” prompting Beckford to respond: “Bore off, Bridgey!”

Ross McCormack and Simon Grayson’s Leeds predictions

Plenty have given their predictions in the media and McCormack thinks the game will come down to whether three Leeds players turn up, in Crysencio Summerville, Georginio Rutter and Willy Gnonto.

Former Leeds manager Grayson also gave his take, and he thinks Leeds are going to win but is well aware that it will be a tough, “cagey” affair and the winner will be the one that can find their best on the day.

It is only fitting that LeedsUnited.News gives their prediction too, and we are backing a 1-0 Leeds win. A third clean sheet and a trademark Summerville cut inside and curl into the far corner past Alex McCarthy.
