'He's the last man': Kyle Walker says one Man City man isn't to blame at all for FA Cup final loss to Man Utd

Kyle Walker has claimed that a certain figure at Manchester City is not at fault for his side’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s side pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent memory as far as cup finals go.

United’s victory was perhaps not as unfancied as Wigan Athletic’s in the FA Cup final against City in 2013 or Birmingham City’s against Arsenal in the League Cup final in 2011.

However, it seemed like Kyle Walker would lead Manchester City to winning their third FA Cup during Pep Guardiola’s time at the club.

Sadly for City, United exacted revenge for their 2-1 defeat at Wembley Stadium last season.

After Manchester City lost to Manchester United, Kyle Walker claimed that the defeat was not down to Pep Guardiola. Guardiola admitted his tactical failings played a part in his side’s poor display.

But Walker said via HaytersTV: “He’s the last man I’m going to question on tactics because he’s a genius for what he’s done for the years I’ve been here, how he’s transformed me as a player, how he’s transformed some of them players in there as players.”

The £50 million man added: “If he says that, then that’s down to him and what he says but for me, it’s the whole squad. We’ve got 97 minutes to go on and win a game of football, so for me, we all take accountability for that.”

Walker spoke like a leader about Guardiola after City lost to United

In our view, it would be easy for Manchester City captain Kyle Walker to simply agree with Pep Guardiola after his side’s defeat to Manchester United.

After all, Guardiola’s judgment can rarely be questioned, especially about tactics.

However, Walker stated that the blame lay in the whole team’s hands, as they had enough time to turn the game around.

On the day, Manchester City failed to and all in all, like most wins, defeats also occurred due to collective problems.

It is very rare that one player’s failings lead their team to lose a game.

The same goes for even potential tactical mistakes from managers.

Regardless, the way Kyle Walker defended Pep Guardiola was the sign of a top leader as Manchester City lost to Manchester United.
