'It would be nice': Player wants his future sorted out with Leeds United in talks to sign 'rapid' £20m star

Leeds United are reportedly in talks for a player that is rated at £20m and he says “it would be nice” to complete a move to Elland Road, describing it as his “second home”.

Leeds’ activity in the summer will depend on the result of today’s play-off final at Wembley as The Whites take on Southampton, and one deal it could affect is the future of Tottenham Hotspur star Joe Rodon.

The 26-year-old is set to make his 50th outing for Leeds already inside one season and Leeds will be keen to tie down his future, but it is likely a permanent move will only be secured if Leeds do get promoted.

Described as “rapid” by Dom Matteo, Rodon has been exceptional for Leeds. In his 49 appearances for the Whites, Leeds have kept 21 clean sheets and Rodon has been key to that throughout the campaign.

Leeds are in talks with Tottenham over a deal, and it is claimed Spurs rate the Welshman at £20m. Now, Rodon has said it would be nice to get his future sorted and that Leeds is now a second home to him.

Joe Rodon suggests he wants permanent Leeds move this summer

Rodon might want the move, and Tottenham will want to sell him with his future in North London all but over with his deal ending in 2025. But, Leeds will struggle to afford him should we fail to get promoted.

Financial Fairplay is likely to force Leeds into a few player sales if we do lose on Sunday, and it certainly rules out a move for Rodon. That, and that his form this season will attract Premier League attention.

Rodon told The Mail: “It would be nice to have stability and know where I am next season. I’ve always strived to get to the elite level and hopefully I can get back there with Leeds, but you never know.

“I don’t want to look too far into the future, although I do love it here and Leeds feels like a second home to me now. I’m just concentrating on giving my best and getting this club back to where it belongs.”

Leeds need to sort out Rodon deal quickly if promoted

In Jesse Marsch’s first summer at Elland Road, Leeds confirmed their Premier League status with a 2-1 win at Brentford on the final day and moments later, Brenden Aaronson was confirmed as a £25m arrival.

The same treatment needs to be made in regards to Rodon. If promoted, Leeds need to strike while the iron is hot and confirm a deal for the Tottenham defender in the next two or three days after promotion.

But first of all, Leeds need to get the job done on Sunday afternoon in what is going to be a hugely tough task against a side that have beaten The Whites twice already, this season.
