Alan Shearer says Pep Guardiola was actually annoyed by what one Man City star did in 48th minute vs Man Utd

Alan Shearer noticed that Pep Guardiola was upset with what one Manchester City player did during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United.

Kyle Walker felt the disappointing result was not down to the Spaniard in any way, shape or form and the players instead.

After the FA Cup final, Pep Guardiola shifted the blame from the players and took it upon himself for his side’s defeat — admitting his tactics were not the best.

Shearer says Guardiola was upset with one City player against Man United

But Guardiola looked visibly perplexed in the 48 minute of the contest.

Rodri took a shot from behind the halfway line to catch Andre Onana out, who was off his line.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper took a few steps back and saw the ball fly over him.

Alan Shearer noted during commentary for BBC Sport (25/05/2024, 5:15 pm) that Pep Guardiola was upset with the decision taken by Manchester City midfielder Rodri against Manchester United.

“He does not look a happy man down there, Pep [Guardiola], after that decision from Rodri.”

Strange decision from Rodri to let fly

The £220,000-a-week man’s shooting is remarkable and he does have the right to back himself and go for goal, especially when his City side are trailing.

But as Alan Shearer observed, Pep Guardiola was perhaps miffed with Rodri as he decided to take a shot from as far as out he did when Manchester City were 2-0 down to Manchester United.

At a time when it was time for City to pile the pressure on United, the midfield maestro wasted that opportunity to try scoring an incredibly unlikely goal.

There is a difference between taking a chance and trying the impossible.

Rodri did the latter on Saturday by going for such a goal, in our view.

Considering the four-time Premier League winner is a senior player, his decision was quite absurd at the time.
