£50m Arsenal striker target wins award previously won by Victor Osimhen and Tottenham star

A striker reportedly wanted by Arsenal has now claimed an award previously won by the likes of Victor Osimhen and a Tottenham star.

The Gunners are set for a big summer transfer window with Mikel Arteta reportedly ready to spend a decent amount on a number of players to improve the Arsenal squad, with a striker a priority.

Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is the reported favourite for the north London side, though Arsenal have also been linked with the likes of RB Leipzig youngster Benjamin Sesko.

And another forward wanted by Arsenal has now scooped up a top award.

Arsenal target Joshua Zirkzee named Best Young Player in Serie A

As per Serie A’s official Twitter account, Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee has been named the league’s Best U-23 player in the division, with Osimhen and Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski previous winners of the award.

A key part of Thiago Motta’s side that have booked their ticket for next season’s UEFA Champions League, Zirkzee is one of the highest-rated youngsters in Europe and a player who Arsenal have been linked with for some time.

Valued at £50m, Zirkzee is expected to depart Bologna this summer with the Gunners one of the leading clubs for the Dutch international’s signature, alongside the likes of Manchester United.

And Zirkzee scooping up this acclaimed Serie A award will only add to his appeal, with Arsenal likely to face even more competition this summer for the 21-year-old.

Zirkzee’s reputation has only increased after Serie A award

Zirkzee has enjoyed a dream year after firing Bologna into the Champions League and now seeing his efforts paid off with links to some of the biggest clubs in the world, led by Arsenal.

And this latest accolade for the former Bayern Munich wonderkid will only see his reputation increase, with Zirkzee now a bonafide superstar in the making having been recognised by Serie A.

Whether or not the youngster will end up at Arsenal is a question for another day, yet after this latest award, many fans would be pleased to see Zirkzee end up in north London as the new leading striker.
