'That went well': MSNBC panel laughs at Trump going down in flames in Saturday speech

The entire panel on MSNBC's "The Weekend" burst into laughter on Sunday morning after watching clips of Donald Trump being taunted and booed Saturday night at the Libertarian National Convention.

Co-host Alicia Menendez introduced the clips by explaining, "Donald Trump hopes to win over Libertarian voters in his quest to win back the White House, but that may be easier said than done."

With that, a clip ran of Trump telling the hostile crowd, "We must work together. You have to combine with us," only for him to be shouted down.

The former president received the same treatment when he told the crowd, "The Libertarian party should nominate Trump," and then smirked and repeated, "That's nice" twice as the jeering grew louder.

Returning to the studio, 'The Weekend" co-host Michael Steele dryly commented, "That went well," as Menendez, MSNBC's Symone Sanders-Townsend, former GOP lawmaker Joe Walsh (R-IL) and author Ruth Ben-Ghiat all burst into laughter.

Steele sarcastically continued, "That was a good night out. Look, why did Trump go there? What was the point there because my sense was, we were talking and laughing during the break, there was a little bit of trolling going on there. One part of his brain was really put off by the booing because, 'I'm Donald Trump and everyone should love me.' But the other side of his brain was like, 'Okay, this is good.'"
