Lewis Hamilton delivers irritated four-word message to Mercedes after Monaco Grand Prix red flag

Lewis Hamilton appeared exasperated after the Monaco Grand Prix was red flagged as he indicated the team made a mistake putting him on the hard tyres to start the race.

The Monaco Grand Prix is a tricky race to overtake on with many trying to make their move on the first lap.

But there was several bumps between cars before Kevin Magnussen and Sergio Perez touched wheels with Nico Hulkenberg also being picked up in the wreckage.

The race was immediately red flagged with cars limping back to the pits.

That gave a chance for teams to change tyres with some suggestions that the hard tyre would be possible to potentially make it to the end of the race.

Hamilton and George Russell didn't have that opportunity though as they started the race on the hard compound, meaning they had to change to mediums at some point.

The seven-time world champion appeared to suggest that he would have preferred to have started on the medium compound in case of a crash on the opening lap.

"I told you guys," Hamilton said.
