Putin-Backing Russian Media Personality Quips About Launching Missile at Statue of Liberty

A Russian TV host who is an ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin reportedly suggested that Moscow launch a missile attack on the Statue of Liberty.

Russia 1 channel anchor Vladimir Solovyov has issued a series of warnings against the West since Russia invaded Ukraine.

During a recent episode of his show, Russian political scientist Dmitry Evstafiev suggested "launching a hypersonic missile across the continental U.S., but not at the U.S. Let it fly over it."

Solovyov responded: "But know out the torch on the State of Liberty, heh?"

Anton Gerashchenko, the former adviser in Ukraine's internal affairs ministry posted the clip on X with a translation saying, "They want this for the whole world. Just because they can. Just because they can get away with it."

In March, Solovyov suggested nuclear strikes on NATO members.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claims Russia is preparing to intensify its offensive along Ukraine's northern border.

Fourteen died in an aerial bomb attack on a large construction supplies store in the city of Kharkiv on Saturday. At least 43 others were injured, and 16 are missing, Kharkiv Gov. Oleh Syniehubov said, according to the Associated Press.
