Mikel Arteta urged to sign England international because he'd give Arsenal 'something different'

Kevin Nolan has named the striker that Arsenal should sign in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal did extremely well this season, The Gunners forced the Premier League title race to go down to the final day of the season and also reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Mikel Arteta’s side scored as many as 91 goals in the Premier League this season, despite playing Kai Havertz as a nine for a large chunk of the campaign.

Perhaps Arsenal could have done better with a ‘proper’ number nine, and there is no surprise that the Gunners are on the hunt for a goalscorer in the summer transfer window.

Ivan Toney is on the radar of Arsenal, and former West Ham United coach Kevin Nolan believes that the Brentford and England international striker would be perfect for the North London club.

Kevin Nolan urges Arsenal to sign Ivan Toney

Nolan said on BBC Radio 5 Live: “I honestly think Ivan Toney could be a big plus for them (Arsenal).

“I think, you know, with what they have got in and around, to have that someone who can sort of give them something different, I think he could be the one.

“Isak at Newcastle is certainly another one. Them two have been named quite regularly with Arsenal and them sort of being interested.”

How Ivan Toney could improve Arsenal

Ivan Toney is a very good striker who would give Arsenal a focal point. The 28-year-old England international striker has been compared to Harry Kane in the past in the way he can drop deep and affect games.

Toney is very good in air, a trait that talkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has noticed. He is strong and athletic, and is able to hold off defenders in and around the penalty box.

The Brentford striker takes up good positions in the final third and is not an easy player to mark. Toney is able to play with another striker upfront, as he has done with Bryan Mbuemo for the Bees.

Toney has scored 36 goals and provided 11 assists in 85 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
