The full scale of Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers' derby dominance over Rangers

Brendan Rodgers’ return at Celtic this season has continued the club’s domination of Scottish football this century.

Since the year 2000, Celtic have won 18 Scottish titles, 11 Scottish Cups and 10 League Cups. It truly is a remarkable record and it shows just how much Celtic have been the dominant force in Scotland over the past 24 years.

However, that dominance is, in part, down to Brendan Rodgers over his two spells as the Celtic boss.

And here, we look at his record against our Glasgow rivals and how the Northern Irishman deserves a lot of credit for how he has kept Rangers at bay.

Celtic’s superb win rate over Rangers under Brendan Rodgers

The Celtic boss has now earned the right to bite back at his critics this season after having to suffer a narrative being written about his team.

But it’s Rodgers’ Celtic record over Rangers after yesterday’s Scottish Cup win that stands out as the major contributory factor in this season’s success and during his first stint as the Hoops gaffer that really stands out.

Yesterday’s Hampden showdown was Rodgers’ 18th appearance as the Celtic manager against the Ibrox club.

Out of those, he has won 14, drawn three and lost just once. This season, however, Rodgers has faced the Ibrox club five times and won all but one.

Rodgers also recorded Celtic’s one of their biggest wins at Ibrox in the 5-1 hammering of Rangers in April 2017.

But the most significant win against our rivals was the 3-2 victory where a ten-man Celtic beat Rangers thanks to an Odsonne Edouard winner in March 2018.

That led to Rangers cutting Celtic’s Ibrox allocation from over 7500 fans to just over 700 over the course of the last six years.

So it’s not just records Rodgers is making and breaking as he continues to break the hearts of thousands of Rangers fans after yesterday’s win at Hampden.
