'I'm not' - David Beckham and Gary Neville paid ultimate tribute to one Man Utd legend, they didn't hesitate for single moment

Gary Neville and David Beckham dropped the ultimate sign of respect for one Manchester United legend during the construction of their combined treble-winning XI.

The two Manchester United legends were both integral members of the famous Red Devils team that lifted an iconic continental treble in the 1998-99 season.

Former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson clinched his side’s treble win in 1999 with a famous comeback win against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

Gary Neville and David Beckham both had illustrious playing spells under Sir Alex Ferguson, who is widely considered one of the best managers of all time.

Beckham shot to superstardom at United after he burst onto the scene at Old Trafford and thrived under the tutelage of Red Devils legend Ferguson.

The 49-year-old former United star lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League and two FA Cups before he left Old Trafford in 2003.

Neville, on the other hand, remained at Old Trafford throughout his illustrious playing career and even served as captain under Ferguson.

The 49-year-old revelled in the success that Ferguson ushered in at United, with Neville lifting eight Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies.

Neville and Beckham’s respect for one Man Utd legend

Gary Neville and David Beckham appeared in a video on BBC Sport’s TikTok page and the two Manchester United legends built a combined treble-winning XI.

Manchester City became only the second English team in history to complete a continental treble after achieving the feat in the 2022-23 season.

Both Neville and Beckham shared the pitch with a star-studded roster of talent at Old Trafford, including United legends Roy Keane, Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke.

However, the two former England players didn’t hesitate when it came to including Denis Irwin in their combined United and City treble-winning XI.

Neville immediately went for Denis Irwin before he was asked to pick between the United legend and City defender Josko Gvardiol.

“Denis Irwin, I’m not even going to […],” Neville said.

Beckham, much like Neville, had no intention of entertaining any other player for the left-back spot other than Irwin.

“Yeah, yeah, you don’t [need to say anyone else] […],” he added.

Responding to Neville and Beckham, the interviewer said: “Okay, so [I’m] not even going to mention Gvardiol.”

Man Utd legend Irwin made his mark

Denis Irwin had a remarkable playing career at Old Trafford after Ferguson snapped him up from Oldham Athletic in 1990 for a reported £650,000 fee.

The 58-year-old United legend is widely regarded as one of the best left-backs in the Premier League’s history after his impact at Old Trafford.

Irwin could be played on either flank as a full-back and the former United star excelled from set pieces, including free-kicks and penalties.

The former United defender is held in high regard by his former teammates, including by fellow Red Devils legend Roy Keane.

Ferguson paid the ultimate tribute to Irwin, who left Old Trafford in 2002, by claiming that he would be the only certainty in his all-time United XI.
