Ange Postecoglou should be making £60m player Pep Guardiola really wants his first summer signing - opinion

Ange Postecoglou should be making a £60m player who Pep Guardiola really wants his first Tottenham Hotspur signing this summer transfer window.

Tottenham ended the Premier League campaign in fifth place and although it’s certainly an improvement on the previous year, Postecoglou will be desperate to return the club to the Champions League.

The Australian and club chiefs will already be plotting their summer transfer targets ahead of the fast-approaching window and one playmaker should be at the summit of his list.

Tottenham Hotspur should try to sign Eberechi Eze

Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze is a player Tottenham Hotspur should be seriously considering this summer transfer window.

The £60m maverick, who Pep Guardiola wants at Manchester City, was immense last term, netting 11 goals whilst laying on six assists.

Eze can operate across a number of different positions having played off both flanks and as an attacking midfielder.

His addition would provide great depth in key areas for Spurs ahead of the increased schedule next term due to European commitments.

Tottenham have been linked with the England international in recent weeks but it’s thought they’d need to outlay a club-record bid to land his signature.

Eberechi Eze statistics

It’s easy to see why so many clubs are after Eze when you take a look at his phenomenal FBref statistics.

The 25-year-old ranks in the top nine per cent for non-penalty xG, evincing how much of a goal threat he carries.

Further, he sits in the top 11 for successful take-ons, which amplifies his marvellous ball-carrying ability – a profile that is perhaps lacking in Postecoglou’s side.

If Spurs can steal a march on their rivals and land his signature this summer, they’d be getting one of the best signings of the window and it’d be a real statement.
