'I'm aware': Fabrizio Romano shares what he's heard about Emile Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal this summer

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now been sharing what he’s been hearing about the possibility of Emile Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal this summer.

Once held in the same breath as Bukayo Saka, Smith Rowe’s Arsenal career has stalled dramatically.

Now 23-years-old Arsenal’s number 10 was expected to be of the key men right now, as he initially was starting to become under Mikel Arteta’s stewardship.

At the age of 21, Emile Smith Rowe was flying for Arsenal, making his England debut and his career trajectory looked very obvious.

However, fast-forward to now and Smith Rowe’s role at Arsenal has seriously diminished, limited to inconsequential cameos.

Arsenal don’t play with a natural number 10 anymore, a position the ‘Croydon De Bruyne’ had made his own.

Perhaps there is an opportunity on the left wing, but there’s currently no sign of the England international making it past Leandro Trossard or Gabriel Martinelli.

That being said, amid talk of Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal this summer, Fabrizio Romano has just been providing his latest insight for CaughtOffside.

Fabrizio Romano says Emile Smith Rowe’s Arsenal future is still up in the air

It was recently reported by the same outlet that Smith Rowe was set for talks with Arsenal amid interest from the Premier League.

But Fabrizio Romano cooled that talk, saying nothing had been decided as of yet.

He explained: “I’m aware of talk of a meeting being scheduled between Emile Smith Rowe and Arsenal, but my understanding is that nothing has been decided on this yet.

“I think it’s an open situation based on proposals, but at the moment I’m still hearing it’s a quiet situation. Let’s see in the next weeks if clubs join the race.”

Of course, Arsenal fans may reluctantly agree that it’s best if the club to allow the Hale End graduate to leave.

Smith Rowe still has considerable potential, but having been left on the sidelines for so long at the Emirates there’s no suggestion that he’ll suddenly be handed better chances.

Arsenal will attempt to strengthen their squad further this summer, and that could likely demote Smith Rowe’s role even further.

Fans of the club would be hesitant to see Smith Rowe join a rival, they all know how good he can be, but will perhaps admit it’s best for the player to seek a fresh challenge.

All that being said, Arsenal could actually be tempted to sell a different ‘unbelievable’ talent this summer.
