I saw Man Utd lift the FA Cup at Wembley and fan feelings towards Erik ten Hag now couldn't be any clearer

I was one of the lucky Manchester United fans who managed to obtain a ticket to go and see Manchester United defeat Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

It was a truly phenomenal day to be a Red Devil. Erik ten Hag silenced many of his haters with an absolute masterclass of a performance against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Goals from academy graduates Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo ensured that United lifted the FA Cup 2024 – in sensational fashion against their bitter rivals.

The atmosphere, as always at Wembley, was electric. Manchester United fans were in full voice from the off despite being severe underdogs, and they were dually rewarded for their support with a marvellous show from the first-team squad.

It was an ever-so-satisfying end to what has been a miserable campaign. For a club filled with so much toxicity in a season, the Red Devils have somehow managed to bow out on a high.

Amid a sea of speculation that Ten Hag is to part ways with the club, it was a huge statement from the Dutchman. It was evident to see what fans thought of the Manchester United manager.

What Manchester United fans think of Erik ten Hag after FA Cup Final

As the Red Devils emerged victorious, it was clear that the consensus of Manchester United fans about Erik ten Hag is more than a positive one.

After the game concluded, chants of ‘We’re on the march with Ten Hag’s army’ rang around the ground, along with numerous cheers every time his face was shown on the TV screen.

I spoke to many fans throughout the day, all admittedly a little under the influence, but the message is more than clear – they are Ten Hag in.

The Dutchman has brought, in moments, the good times back to Old Trafford. We’ve had five Wembley trips, two trophies and countless memorable games.

To part ways with the 54-year-old would be a rash and unjustified decision. The fans, mostly, seem to be fully behind him, and we would be inclined to agree.

Erik ten Hag must be kept at Manchester United

It’s clear as day to myself that Ten Hag must remain in charge at Manchester United next season. The modern-day United have a tendency to bounce around managers, which has never worked out.

Ten Hag is already the most successful gaffer post-Sir Alex Ferguson, so to get rid now would be downright ludicrous.

The general consensus appears to be that most fans think the same. Andy Mitten told United We Stand: “I just had a good, off-the-record chat with Ten Hag and I showed him a poll where 84% of United fans want him to stay. He was buzzing and gave me a big smile. He wants to STAY as well.”

The fans have decided. His mind is made up. Ten Hag should remain around Carrington next season.
