Tulane Baseball Wins Second Straight American Athletic Conference Title (Tom Layberger)

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Jackson Linn’s home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth sailed far over the left field fence to give Tulane its second straight American Athletic Conference title.

It was the first time the conference championship game was decided in walk-off fashion.

The 11-10 win over Wichita State at BayCare Ballpark made the Green Wave the first team in conference history to repeat as champions. They defeated East Carolina in 2023.

With the conference title, the Green Wave receive an automatic big to the NCAA tournament. Ninth-ranked East Carolina, which the Shockers eliminated Saturday, will also receive a bid.

Gavin Schulz’s two-run homer capped a four-run sixth to give the Green Wave a 10-7 lead only to have the Shockers score three times in the seventh to knot the score. That is how it remained until Linn, a junior outfielder, decided the outcome with his second homer of the game, fourth of the tournament and 16th of the season.

Tulane (35-24) got to the title game by defeating FAU twice and Charlotte. The championship game win capped a perfect week.
