The SEC Tournament final started off with a couple deep shots past the outfield wall before pitching took over, but eventually Tennessee cruised to a 4-3 win over LSU.

The Volunteers claimed their second conference tournament title in the last three years, following a 16-year drought up until 2022.

But LSU actually struck first in the championship game, doing so in the bottom of the first inning.

The Tigers got onto the scoreboard with a two-out rally following a terrific at-bat from first baseman Jared Jones. Jones worked the count full, then found a pitch he liked to blast his 26th home run of the season over the left field wall, making it 1-0 LSU.

The Volunteers did their damage in the top of the third inning in the SEC Tournament final.

The frame actually started with back-to-back outs before a two-out rally occurred. Christian Moore led things off with a single to right field, then Blake Burke drew a walk after an eight-pitch at-bat to put two runners on.

Billy Amick then stepped to the plate. He went down in the count 0-1 before blasting a pitch over the left field wall to put Tennessee up 3-1 in the contest.

The Volunteers would plate another run in the top of the seventh inning after putting a pair of runners on with one out.

Burke led things off with a one-out single, then Amick walked. After Dylan Dreiling lined out to second base, Hunter Ensley hit a single up the middle to plate Burke and make it a 4-1 game.

Tennessee got a tremendous outing from relief pitcher Dylan Loy, who came in after the first inning. Loy went 4.2 innings until he ran into trouble in the sixth inning.

But Loy first racked up five strikeouts and allowed just two hits and two walks through 4.2 innings, getting Tennessee into the latter stages of the game with a lead. He was lifted after running into trouble midway through the SEC Tournament contest.

LSU had a chance to rally in the sixth inning, loading the bases with two outs and chasing Loy. But an unfortunate pick-off ended the inning when second baseman Steven Milam was picked off at first base by a terrific throw from home by Vols catcher Cal Stark.

The Tigers attempted to rally in the ninth inning, using back-to-back-to-back one-out doubles to plate a couple runs and cut the deficit to 4-3. But the Volunteers would settle in to record the final two outs to take the title.
