ESPN pundit names the Man Utd star who was even better than Kobbie Mainoo in the FA Cup Final

Manchester United fans are still celebrating winning the FA Cup Final after defeating bitter rivals City.

The FA Cup Final went like a dream for Manchester United, with a number of players saving their best performances of the season for the big game at Wembley.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo scored the goals which carried Manchester United to a 2-1 victory over Pep Guardiola’s side.

The likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez delivered top class displays, while Sofyan Amrabat might just have been the standout.

Sofyan Amrabat picked out for praise

Kobbie Mainoo was the official FA Cup Final man of the match, with the 19-year-old netting the eventual winner on the big stage at Wembley.

Erik ten Hag praised Mainoo, as did Bruno Fernandes, but he was not the only player deserving of compliments.

In a segment on ESPN, former Premier League player Frank Leboeuf argued that he felt Sofyan Amrabat even outperformed the teenage star.

Leboeuf said: “Amrabat was maybe the best player. he was everywhere, working so hard, clever when he had the ball.

“He was for me the man of the match.”

Amrabat is on a season long loan from Fiorentina, and suffered defeat in his last final, when his side were defeated by West Ham in the Europa Conference League.

He played like a man possessed against City, trying to cover every blade of grass, closing City down at every opportunity.

Amrabat future unclear

Sofyan Amrabat’s loan is set to expire at the end of June, and Manchester United are yet to indicate whether they are willing to activate the clause to buy him permanently, or negotiate.

Amrabat has said he is open to talks, and after a mixed season, he has ended it on a high note, whatever happens.

With other midfield departures expected, with Casemiro and Christian Eriksen likely, ensuring Amrabat sticks around could be a wise move, even if he is not an every week starter.
