It’s selection Monday in the college baseball world, and NC State already knows it will host this weekend. Now, it is waiting to see who will visit Doak Field to open the NCAA Tournament.

The Wolfpack, one of five ACC hosts in the tournament, is set to host a regional for the first time since 2018 — its seventh in program history. The NCAA announced the regional sites Sunday night, but did not release the seeds or any specific part of the bracket.

Baseball America slotted the Pack as the No. 10 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament in its final bracket projection. In that prediction, the Wolfpack is slated to see LSU, Northeastern and High Point during the opening weekend.

If the Tigers make the trip to Raleigh, they will be bringing a familiar face with them. LSU starting third baseman Tommy White began his collegiate career at NC State before he transferred to Baton Rouge following his freshman year in the red and white.

White hit .362 with 12 doubles, 27 home runs and 74 RBI in his only season with the Wolfpack. After he went to the Tigers, the slugger helped guide LSU to a national championship last season with 105 RBI in 66 games played.

D1Baseball, meanwhile, had NC State as the No. 11 overall seed. That projection would have Mississippi State, UNC Wilmington and Pennsylvania heading to the City of Oaks this week.

NC State already played UNCW twice this season, losing both midweek games in the process. This could provide a chance for the Wolfpack to bounce back from those defeats.

The full field will be announced Monday at noon on ESPN2. The Wolfpack is hosting a watch party open to the public at Sports and Social in Cary, beginning at 11am Monday morning. The team, along with the coaching staff, will be present to take in the selection show alongside their friends and family.
