Report: Senior members at Chelsea are impressed with 'excellent' manager, they love his personality

There are people at Chelsea who seem to be very impressed with one manager who the club are interested in.

Chelsea are trying to replace Mauricio Pochettino after his departure from Stamford Bridge last week.

Since his exit, the likes of Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Roberto De Zerbi have all been linked to the club.

Chelsea were also thought to be interested in Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, but it is now being reported that they have cooled that interest in the 38-year-old.

It leaves just Maresca, Frank and De Zerbi in the running, with the club said to be really impressed with one name from that trio.

Manager has admirers at Chelsea

It has been easy for those at Chelsea to keep an eye on Frank and De Zerbi.

Both men have been managing in the Premier League, with the former being present in the division since 2021.

And the work that he has done at Brentford seems to have caught Chelsea’s attention.

According to Sky Sports, senior members at Chelsea are impressed with the job that Frank has done at the Gtech Community Stadium.

They also like his personality and the way he communicates, the same outlet claims.

Is Thomas Frank a good fit for Chelsea?

There is no denying that Frank has done well at Brentford. He got the Bees promoted to the Premier League and has kept them there.

The Dane even guided Brentford to a top-half finish last season above Chelsea. Former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson thinks he has done an “excellent job” in west London.

However, you would have to question whether Frank is the right fit for Chelsea.

Under him, Brentford are quite a defensive team who rely on counter-attacks. Their average ball possession was only 44.9% this season, according to WhoScored.

At Chelsea, with better players, perhaps Frank would set his team up to be more of a threat. But based on the above, there is no guarantee he would do that.
