Report: Lopetegui edging closer to first Hammers signing as West Ham zone in on 24-yo winger

Julen Lopetegui’s rein as West Ham United manager is well underway now, as the Spaniard closes in on his first signing of the summer.

West Ham are on the cusp of an exciting new era with Julen Lopetegui at the helm, and the Spaniard is already eyeing up some big new signings for the Hammers.

Tim Steidten has absolutely raved about Lopetegui, giving the West Ham fans lots to be excited about.

Maybe he wasn’t everyone’s first choice to replace David Moyes, but the truth of the matter is that he is actually an excellent manager.

Guillem Balague has outlined in detail just how lucky we are to have the 57-year-old as our manager.

If we’re being honest here, he has been a huge success throughout his career. During his three-year spell at Sevilla, he got them inside the top three every season he was there, and guided them to the Europa League trophy in the 2019/20 season.

His spells in charge of Real Madrid and Spain say a lot about him as well. You don’t get those jobs in the first place if you aren’t a truly elite manager.

It’s time we all got behind Lopetegui in my opinion. One thing that he definitely seems to be more in tune with than Moyes is our transfer business.

And Lopetegui appears to be close to making his very first signing for the club…

West Ham close in on Jota Silva

The diminutive Vitória de Guimarães star has lit up the Primeira Liga this term, and his £17 million release clause means that he’s available for an absolute bargain fee.

And West Ham may well be the club to take advantage of said release clause.

Portuguese journalist Sebastio Sousa Pinto has claimed that a deal for the Hammers to sign Silva is well underway:

The 24-year-old attacker was in fine form out in Portugal this season just gone.

He has bagged an incredibly impressive 15 goals and seven assists in 42 games in all competitions so far (Transfermarkt).

It was recently claimed that Lopetegui wants Jota Silva to replace the recently departed Said Benrahma at West Ham.

And now a deal to bring the Portuguese winger to the London Stadium seems to be well on the way to completion.
