The attack also left 48 people injured.
In response to the tragedy, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov declared May 27 a Day of Mourning to honor the victims. The deadly strike occurred at 4:02 p.m. on May 25, initially impacting a residential area before hitting the mall with two guided aerial bombs, which led to a massive fire covering over 10,000 square meters.

Later that evening, around 7:00 p.m., another Russian attack targeted the center of Kharkiv.
Kharkiv Oblast Prosecutor Oleksandr Filchakov reported that an S-300 missile also struck near an office center in the city's Shevchenkivskyi district on the same day.
Rescue operations are ongoing at the site of the demolished hypermarket. As of May 26, authorities had confirmed 14 fatalities and 44 injuries from the incident, with 11 victims, including a 12-year-old girl and her mother, formally identified. Seven people remain unaccounted for, according to the Office of the Prosecutor General.
