Punjab CEO announces Rs 5,000 incentives to BLO's for increasing voting turnout

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], May 27 (ANI): Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Sibin C on Monday announced to provide incentives to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) worth Rs 5,000 for achieving a voter turnout increase of 10 per cent or more compared to the 2019 turnout.

Additionally, a similar incentive is planned for BLOs at booths where the voter turnout exceeds 75 per cent.

The Punjab CEO made the announcement in a meeting with the SVEEP (Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation) and Social Media District Nodal Officers.

Providing details, the CEO stated that BLOs who achieve a voter turnout increase of 10 per cent or more compared to the 2019 turnout will receive a Rs 5,000 cash prize and will be felicitated at a state-level ceremony.

He emphasized that BLOs must personally distribute the Voter Slips and 'Voting Invitation Cards' door-to-door, without delegating this responsibility to other officers.

On this occasion, he commended the BLOs and SVEEP teams for their excellent work so far and urged them to continue their efforts until the polling concludes, to achieve the goal of "Is Vaar 70 Paar."

He emphasized the importance of their role in ensuring a smooth and efficient electoral process, highlighting that their dedication is crucial for maximizing voter turnout and ensuring every eligible voter has the opportunity to participate.

During the meeting, Additional CEO Harish Nayar highlighted that district SVEEP and social media teams should document the initiatives taken, including facilities provided at Polling Stations, Model Booths, and booths managed by women and Persons with Disabilities (PwD).

They should also collect voter testimonials about their voting experiences. A detailed report will be submitted to the Election Commission of India in this regard. (ANI)
