Reporter says he's been told 28-year-old wants to join West Ham

So it seems as though one player in particular is keen to join West Ham United in the summer.

Julen Lopetegui has been the West Ham manager for only four days now, but he is already thought to be frantically planning his assault on the transfer market with Tim Steidten.

David Moyes worked wonders at the London Stadium in all fairness to him, but he has left an ageing an unbalanced squad behind.

Lopetegui’s plans to rebuild the Hammers squad have been thrown into disarray already with the news that Lucas Paqueta has been formally charged by the FA for betting breaches.

West Ham would have received at least £70 million, probably more, for Paqueta this summer, but with the charges hanging over his head, it looks like he could stay at the London Stadium.

So Lopetegui may well have to be more frugal with his summer recruitment. And one signing the Spaniard looks like making certainly fits into that category.

Fabricio Bruno of Flamengo is apparently closing in on a £12.8 million move to the London Stadium.

There’s been a really positive update about his potential move to West Ham as well…

Bruno wants to join Julen Lopetegui at West Ham

Football journalist Dean Jones has been speaking to Give Me Sport about the Hammers’ proposed move to sign Bruno this summer.

It has emerged that the Flamengo defender has already made his intentions very clear indeed.

Jones said, “Initial focus is on the Brazilians that have been talked about, and in terms of Fabricio Bruno, I think there is an important profile of player that symbolises the mentality that will be needed for this era.”

“He’s a pretty strong-headed player, very committed, and also good at building play out of the back or seeing opportunities to force an attack,” Jones explained.

And finally, the transfer news specialist said, “I’m told he is excited about the prospect of making a mark in the Premier League (with West Ham). Lopetegui will need to start the season well to get the fans on board and that’s why I’m expecting them to do transfer business like this as early as possible.”

I think Bruno could be a decent signing for us for just under £13 million.

He’s not the easiest on the eye but he’s a quintessentially dogged South American defender – something that our current team really lacks.

If Julen Lopetegui signs Bruno for West Ham, I’ll fully support the decision and get behind the Brazilian centre-back.
