This ‘once in a lifetime’ beachfront estate has a huge lot and 1920s charm

The sprawling home sits on a 10,000 square foot lot.

This beachfront Ocean City estate has 1920s charm and it’s on a huge piece of land.

The six bedroom, three bathroom home has 196 feet of unobstructed ocean views. And it’s listed for sale for $6.395 million.

“The lot is almost 10,000 square feet and the house is in meticulous condition for its age,” said Mark Grimes of BHHS Fox & Roach, the listing agent, who calls it a “once in a lifetime opportunity” in the listing. Most lots in this area of Ocean City are 50 feet wide. “This is twice if not almost three times that.”

The home is located in the Gardens section of Ocean City where there are all single family and estate homes. There are no duplexes or condominiums. “They all have manicured lawns,” he said. “It’s a very nice area towards the north end of the island, close to Longport.”

The 100-year-old home has had only three owners and the current owners have owned it for 40 years, Grimes said.

It has original hardwood floors, a dining room that seats 12 people, a wrap around porch both upstairs and down that looks toward the ocean, a sunroom, a two-car garage and parking for eight cars. It also has crown moldings, two fireplaces, wainscoting in the dining room and sun room and extra wide doorways.

The bedrooms are big, the bathrooms have all been renovated and it has a new roof, new windows and a new HVAC system.

In nearly three weeks on the market the home has had several showings, Grimes said. “It’s a grand old Ocean City estate home in a phenomenal location, looking at the ocean with plenty of space.”

The buyer will likely be someone from New York City or Philadelphia, “with sand in their shoes,” he said. “It’s one of a kind. If you want size, this is it.”
