"It's time"... Marcus Rashford sends message to Man Utd fans and explains his immediate next actions, it's a sensible move

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is planning to reset after a draining 2023/24 season.

Marcus Rashford ended his 2023/24 on a high after helping Manchester United to win the FA Cup at Wembley.

Rashford was seen in tears at the final whistle, with the emotional relief of winning silverware plain to see.

It was a happy ending to a disappointing individual season for him, after he struggled for goals, form, and confidence.

Marcus Rashford plans to reset

Marcus Rashford was Manchester United’s top scorer in 2022/23, netting 30 goals in total. In 2023/24 he scored only eight times.

The academy graduate kept the faith of manager Erik ten Hag, but not unconditionally, dropped at varying points over the campaign.

He also had an incident where he made front page headlines after going out drinking before a FA Cup tie.

Rashford was also left out of the England squad for Euro 2024, which might turn out to be a blessing in disguise for him.

Now, 48 hours after Manchester United’s FA Cup win, Rashford has explained his immediate plans.

Rashford said he is going to take a break from social media, and thanked fans for their support. He also took a little jibe at those who have criticised him too.

He wrote on X: “It’s time to come off Socials for a few weeks. I plan to rest and reset mentally after a challenging season individually and collectively.

“Thanks to the fans that stood by me through a difficult period. To the ones that didn’t just remember at United, we always stick together.”

Sensible move for Rashford

Taking a break from social media is 100 per cent the right move for Marcus Rashford. He has clearly been hurt by some of the criticism he has received this season.

It was a month ago Rashford sent a fiery blast on social media which read “enough is enough”, and labelled some of the criticism he had received as ‘abuse’.

At the time we wrote: “Our advice to Marcus Rashford is quite simple, for his own sake, please stay off social media.”

Rashford has clearly found this season difficult, and a total break is needed. Hopefully he will return stronger than ever for 2024/25, mentally and physically recharged and ready for the start of pre-season.
