An investigation has been launched into a Trump 2024 flag that was hoisted on a New York post office's flagpole, according to a local report.

CBS 6 Albany reported that the flag was raised at a local post office, which vowed to remove it immediately.

"A new flag flown at the Delmar Post Office Monday morning," the outlet reported Monday. "A third flag was added to the flag pole stationed outside government building: the American flag, followed by a POW flag, and finally a 2024 Donald Trump for President flag."

The report continues:

"A representative for the Postal Service says that the flag was not placed there by post office employees and 'will be removed as soon as possible,'" it states.

CBS further notes that the police "say they have reached out to the Office of the Postal Inspector, pending investigation."

A second report from Times Union says the flag has now been removed.

"A blue-red-and-white Donald Trump political campaign flag was among those blowing in the wind for a time in on the flagpole front of the Delmar post office on Memorial Day," the report states. "The flag wasn’t placed there by postal service workers and the agency had it removed as soon it learned it was there, Mark Lawrence, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service, said."

It continues:

"The flag was hung under Old Glory and the POW/MIA flags. It was spotted by attendees of the Memorial Day Parade on Delaware Avenue in Bethlehem."

The report also mentions the Hatch Act, which is a federal law passed in 1939. That law "limits certain political activities of federal employees," according to the federal government.

"Lawrence didn’t know if the postal service was trying to determine who hanged the flag and referred additional questions to the agency’s media inquiries email," Times Union reported. "The Hatch Act prohibits partisan political activity on federal property."
