France says sending military instructors to Ukraine still under discussion

In a statement to AFP, the ministry noted that sending military instructors to Ukraine is "one of the topics" on the agenda since February, when President Emmanuel Macron first said the option was on the table.

“As with all other areas discussed during this occasion, we are continuing to work on this matter with the Ukrainians, particularly to understand their precise needs," the ministry added.

Ukraine's Defense Ministry later confirmed ongoing discussions with France and other countries on this issue.

"The [Ukrainian] Defense Ministry, along with the General Staff, has begun internal work on relevant documents to avoid bureaucratic delays once an official decision is made," the Ukrainian ministry stated.

Earlier on May 27, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said he had signed documents allowing French instructors to integrate with Kyiv’s military training infrastructure.
