Johnny Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose is now famous on her own accord and reserved the right to remain tight-lipped when she was previously asked about him and Amber Heard’s legal situation.
She may be Johnny Depp‘s daughter, but Lily-Rose Depp reiterated her desire to be her own person. The actress said as much in a previous interview, which appeared to touch on her father’s infamous defamation trial against actress Amber Heard.

As Lily-Rose’s fame continues to soar, we’re looking back at an extensive sit-down interview from 2022, which serves as a timely reminder of how Lily-Rose wishes to make clear the fact that she is an accomplished actress in her own right, free from the headlines and mistakes made by others in her life.
None more so was this theme clear than when the subject of her father’s infamous trial arose. Presumably alluding to the well-documented, defamation trial between her father and Heard that same year, Lily-Rose made it clear that her personal thoughts were not property belonging to the public domain.
“When it’s something that’s so private and so personal that all of a sudden becomes not so personal… I feel really entitled to my secret garden of thoughts”, explained the actress.
Importantly, Lily-rose stressed how she does not wish to be held accountable for the actions of others – particularly male figures.
She said: “I also think that I’m not here to answer for anybody, and I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that’s my family members or my boyfriends, whatever.”
Lily-Rose added: “I’m really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there.”
Lily-rose isn’t thrilled by the ‘nepo baby’ allegations
Of course, like any celebrity with a famous parent these days – Lily-Rose has been met with countless allegations of being a ‘nepo baby’ – a term handed out to those who work in the same industry as their parents, and may or may not have benefited from nepotism.
And, like most people who definitely aren’t nepo babies, Lily-rose is less than pleased by the claims she has received a foot up in Hollywood.
“The internet seems to care a lot about that kind of stuff”, said Lily-Rose, then aged 23. “People are going to have preconceived ideas about you or how you got there, and I can definitely say that nothing is going to get you the part except for being right for the part”.
Pleading her innocence, the Idol star added: “Maybe you get your foot in the door, but you still just have your foot in the door. There’s a lot of work that comes after that.”
Touching again on inequalities within the entertainment industry, Lily-Rose went on to note how she found it “interesting” that men appeared to be tarred with the nepo baby brush less often than female counterparts: “I just hear it a lot more about women, and I don’t think that it’s a coincidence.”
Now nearly two years on, Lily-Rose appears to be freely living her own life outside of her parents’ stardom. The 25-year-old has posed alongside her girlfriend, singer 070 Shake, on numerous occasions and is set to star in a lead role in Nosferatu – an upcoming gothic horror movie set for release later this year.
