Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford react as Manchester United striker announces exit

Anthony Martial has announced that he’ll be departing Manchester United this summer, his teammates have been reacting.

After a season in which he made 19 appearances, Anthony Martial‘s exit from Manchester United has been confirmed after a nine-year stay at the club.

317 appearances, 90 goals and 47 assists in his time at Old Trafford and he’s given fans multiple special moments in a period post Sir Alex Ferguson which has seen them few and far between.

His exit comes as no surprise and has seemed on the cards for months given his lack of game time and high wage.

But he will go down as one of the best of the past decade and deserves his flowers and good wishes ahead of wherever he goes next.

Now his teammates have all been reacting to the news.

Manchester United players react to Anthony Martial departure

After Martial made his announcement, the comments were packed full of responses and messages from his teammates past and present.

Rasmus Hojlund was quick to send him a message, commenting “Legend”, under the post of his striking peer this past year.

United captain Bruno Fernandes also commented as he wrote, “I’m going to miss link up with you toto”, followed by a heart emoji.

Marcus Rashford joined in with the messages too, writing, “So many memories together. Stay blessed brother”, followed by a heart as well.

Christian Eriksen commented, “All the best Anto”, followed by a praying emoji.

Victor Lindelof commented four hearts, while Harry Maguire commented one, as did Diogo Dalot.

David de Gea, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Elanga all left hearts in the comments too which shows how loved Martial was by his teammates.

Martial joins Raphael Varane in leaving Old Trafford

While it’s sad to see Martial go, in many ways, it’s a huge plus for Erik ten Hag and Ineos ahead of this summer as he joins Raphael Varane as the second senior player set for release.

Combined, the fact these two left for free has opened up £590,000 per week (Martial £250k-a-week, Varane £340k-a-week) in the wage budget which is enough for two or three top players.

Letting him go is absolutely the correct decision despite the good memories we will all have of him from his early years at the club.

We wish him all the best at his next club and we’re sure he’ll smash it wherever he goes next.
