Celtics sweep Pacers to secure NBA Finals spot

The Boston Celtics have reached the NBA Finals for the second time in three years after completing a 4-0 sweep of the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals with a 105-102 win on Monday.

The Celtics were trailing by nine points with just under nine minutes to go, but they turned the game around with a 7-0 run in the last three minutes.

With 45 seconds remaining, Boston's Derrick White hit the decisive three-pointer, securing the win.

Celtics star Jayson Tatum had an outstanding performance with 26 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists.

Boston's top scorer with 29 points was Jaylen Brown, who was honoured as the most valuable player of the series.

In the NBA Finals, set to start on June 6 in Boston, the Celtics will play the winner of the Western Conference finals, where the Dallas Maverick currently lead the Minnesota Timberwolves 3-0.

This is the first time since 2015 that a team has won the Eastern Finals without dropping a game. That year, the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Atlanta Hawks in the conference finals before losing the NBA title to the Golden State Warriors.

In their most recent Finals appearance in 2022, the Celtics were defeated by the Warriors 4-2.
