Report: Premier League club are now 'confident' of signing £11m Leeds United player permanently this summer

Leeds United now face a difficult summer ahead after their failure to win promotion back to the Premier League.

The Whites were beaten 1-0 by Southampton in the Championship play-off final on Sunday in what was their last chance of sealing an immediate return to the top-flight.

The result at Wembley means Leeds were the only one of the three relegated sides not to bounce back at the first attempt and so there could be some major changes to the playing squad.

Leeds will see their parachute payments cut by 10 per cent, while 49ers Enterprises have acknowledged they will need to sell some key players in order to raise some quick funds.

Last summer after relegation, Leeds lost several of their players on loan but that cannot afford to be the case again this time around due to part of the £190 million in unpaid transfer instalments needing to be paid before June 30.

Jack Harrison could now join Everton permanently

Leeds already sold Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth in March for a large amount of cash up front, which does somewhat ease the need to sell too many.

Championship POTS Crysencio Summerville is the player likely to attract the most interest, but Leeds are hopeful they will be able to sell some of the returning loanees first.

Jack Harrison, Max Wober, Marc Roca and Diego Llorente could all move on permanently, and according to the Daily Mail, Everton are now confident of signing the former.

It is said that Leeds’ failure to be promoted has strengthened Everton’s hand in negotiations, with the Toffees exploring the conditions of making his stay on Merseyside permanent.

Harrison does actually have a clause that would allow him to leave on loan again, but somewhat of a cut-price deal could tempt Everton into making a concrete offer instead.

Leeds spent £11 million to sign him from Manchester City in 2021, and any sort of profit on that would be a good deal for the club. Hopefully it can get done quickly.

Brenden Aaronson confirms Leeds return

With the club season now finished, Brenden Aaronson is the only player to have officially confirmed he will not be signing elsewhere permanently.

Aaronson sent a ‘thank you’ message to Union Berlin at the end of last week in a major hint he will be returning to Leeds in the summer.

However, Leeds are said to be open to offers in the region of just £10 million, with it seemingly unlikely he will be welcomed back into the fold at Elland Road.

That would represent a significant loss of £15 million but at this stage, he is just someone he needs shifting off the books as soon as possible.
