Report: How the Celtic board really feel about Brendan Rodgers’ stance on Adam Idah

Now that the season has officially closed after Celtic’s Scottish Cup win at Hampden on Saturday, the talk will undoubtedly turn to the upcoming transfer window.

With Celtic now guaranteed Champions League group-stage football, Brendan Rodgers knows that he will need to strengthen the first team if he wants to make a mark on the competition.

The goalkeeping position will clearly be a priority after Joe Hart hung up his gloves after the Hampden cup win but the Celtic fans will be expecting to see a number of signings in key areas to help Rodgers restore Celtic’s standing on the continent.

One of those players that the Celtic manager wants is Adam Idah. The Republic of Ireland striker was Celtic’s hero at the weekend and Rodgers was strong in his desire to make the loan move permanent.

Rodgers admitted that the Celtic board ‘knew what he felt’ about the on-loan striker and now, it seems, the Celtic board have made their feelings clear on the matter as well.

Celtic board ‘committed’ to Adam Idah

Norwich City’s asking price for Idah has been a big talking point this season. The Championship club are said to want at least £5m from Celtic to secure the services of the 23-year-old and now, a report from the Daily Record has shared how the board feel about that.

The report states, “The Parkhead gaffer made it crystal clear on Saturday that he wants the striker back next season after watching the Irishman fire the Hoops to Scottish Cup glory.

“AndRecord Sport understands the Hoops hierarchy are committed to fulfilling their manager’s wishes. It was the on-loan Norwich ace’s last-minute winner which sealed victory over Rangers and completed this year’s Double triumph.”

I’ve said on several occasions on 67 Hail Hail that signing Idah for that price is a no-brainer in today’s market.

Think about this. Celtic paid £6m for Chris Sutton back in 2000 when there were doubts about him because of his poor form at Chelsea.

To pay £5m for Idah in 2024 when he has proven that he can handle playing and scoring in high-pressured games for Celtic really would be a good piece of business by the club.

The Celtic supporters will be delighted that the board are backing their manager on this and will be hopeful that this is a sign of things to come for the upcoming transfer window.
