Report: Tottenham expected to make bid for £40m player Ange Postecoglou absolutely loves this summer

Tottenham Hotspur are now planning a bid to sign a player who Ange Postecoglou is known to really admire this summer.

It’s interesting to consider where Daniel Levy will prioritise Spurs’ spending in the off-season, which represents a crucial opportunity to progress their squad.

Despite the improvement Tottenham have made under Postecoglou’s stewardship, this still isn’t a squad in the manager’s image – it’s a long way off.

Spurs only have two full-backs capable of playing Postecoglou’s football, hence why Destiny Udogie was so sorely missed at the end of the season.

And remarkably, Tottenham are probably in the only club in the Premier League who can admit they don’t really have a natural number nine.

Perhaps Richarlison falls into that category, a position he often fulfils for Brazil, but his best football in a Spurs shirt has been from the left.

And then there’s Alejo Veliz, who is just about to return from his loan at Sevilla, having not played the first team minutes envisioned.

Two obvious areas Tottenham can improve, but then there’s also the additions they need to the spine of their side.

Tottenham expected to make fresh Conor Gallagher bid despite Enzo Maresca arrival

In terms of central midfielders, Spurs’ interest in Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher is well documented.

And given Chelsea’s need to adhere to financial rules, The Times are now reporting that Tottenham are planning a summer bid.

A price tag of £40m has been mentioned in the past, a rough figure that Chelsea will likely still hold on for despite the expiring deal mentioned.

And despite Enzo Maresca’s imminent arrival at Chelsea, it doesn’t necessarily seem as if the club’s transfer plans will change.

Of course, that could definitely be to Tottenham’s gain if they are able to convince Gallagher to join their project – a player who has been so consistent for Spurs’ rivals this season.

Postecoglou is said to be a huge admirer of Gallagher, perhaps explaining why this interest has been so persistent.

All that being said, it seems as if Tottenham will actually receive Premier League interest for one of their own players.
