Mike Tyson alarmed fans after reports about him collapsing on a plane surfaced yesterday, with all eyes on the former undisputed heavyweight world champ ahead of his bout against outspoken YouTuber Jake Paul.

The eyes of the world will be watching in a couple of months time when coveted boxing legend Mike Tyson takes on Jake Paul – the bold YouTuber turned promoter who has switched vlogging for a life in and around the ring. But things looked like they could be up in the air for a moment when Tyson collapsed on a plane – prompting panicked calls for an in-flight medic.

According to a report from In Touch, Tyson was on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles on Sunday, May 26, when he became ill – prompting a pre-recorded message asking for medical staff on board to make themselves known to play out 30 minutes before the plane was due to land.

Having stopped for selfies with a group of awaiting fans prior to boarding, the celebrity and the other passengers on the domestic flight were made to wait during a two-hour delay, as the scorching Miami weather had left the plane overly hot.

Speaking to a passenger in economy, a flight attendant admitted that the person in need was a “really important passenger”.

Fellow fliers were made to wait 25 minutes after landing, as paramedics arrived on the scene to see to the boxer.

As it transpired, Tyson endured an ulcer flare-up, which had left him feeling particularly nauseous and dizzy.

Tyson back on the road to recovery

Thankfully, his representative confirmed “Mr. Tyson is doing great” following the incident.

They added: “He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him.”

Seemingly unfazed by the incident, Tyson is continuing to rigorously promote his fight against Paul, which will be streamed live on Netflix on July 20.

Tyson, 57, is 30 years older than his opponent – who he will be sparring with for eight two-minute rounds while wearing 14-ounce gloves.

Though the fight is a sanctioned, professional one, this is slightly shorter than the majority of high-profile professional fights, including the likes of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk – which had 10 three-minute rounds with the boxers sporting thinner gloves.

With that being said, the lax rules don’t appear to be dampening Tyson’s spirit for the fight – with the Brooklyn-born boxer claiming recently he “Can’t wait for Jake’s wake”.
