Report: Everton considering signing 'class' player who has blown Jack Harrison away with his passing

The Premier League’s summer transfer window may not have officially opened yet, but Everton are already supremely busy.

After all, Kevin Thelwell is set to endure a torrid and tireless next few months, toiling over potential big sales and who he might replace them with.

It is a fine balancing act, to ensure that the club remains aligned with the dreaded PSR which stung them twice last campaign, whilst also bolstering a squad that has looked somewhat threadbare at times too.

Fortunately, with this latest report, Everton are set to benefit once again from Leeds United’s failure to get promoted, having already shown interest in re-signing Jack Harrison.

Everton want to sign Kalvin Phillips this summer

Sky Sports provide this fresh update, and it is certainly an exciting one for Evertonians seeking to see true quality added to their squad.

And, despite a torrid loan spell with West Ham United, Sean Dyche is arguably the perfect man to rekindle Kalvin Phillips’ dwindling career.

Once a promising midfield talent who was a mainstay for club and country, his stock has fallen dramatically since joining Manchester City.

But, Everton could now offer a lifeline, as the report reads: ‘Everton are looking at a move for Kalvin Phillips.

‘The Manchester City midfielder could again be available on a temporary deal after spending the second half of last season on loan at West Ham.

‘It had been thought a return to Leeds was his likely destination this summer, but after they lost out to Southampton in the Championship play off final, Everton’s chances of brokering a deal have increased.’

This comes just years after Jack Harrison, who played with Phillips for many years in Yorkshire, lauded his quality: ‘He’s a class player. You can see why he’s been brought up to the England squad.

‘Some of the passes he made today were unbelievable, that next calibre of player. He’s a great addition for us.’

Sean Dyche is planning for life without Amadou Onana

To be in for another defensive midfielder marks quite an insightful look into what Dyche is planning for this summer regarding one of his stars.

After all, given his Director of Football has already revealed that someone will have to go, Amadou Onana’s Everton future has become increasingly unstable.

The Belgian enjoyed a solid year, in what was just his second in English football, but it is worth noting that the club’s best spell, losing one out of just eight games at the end of the campaign, came when he was out of the starting lineup.

It does feel like all signs are pointing towards his departure this summer, given the huge fee that the 22-year-old would be able to command due to his youth and potential.

And this would mark an intelligent cut-price option for the Toffees, to replace him for one season without having to unload a huge fee to find an ample alternative.

At last, it seems like Everton are doing some smart business. We now await to see how this deal progresses.
