Russia-Ukraine frontline update: Most intense fighting ongoing in Pokrovsk sector

As the previous day, the most tense situation on the Russia-Ukraine frontline was recorded in the Pokrovsk sector. As of now, eight combat clashes are ongoing there, reports the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

Since the beginning of the day, May 28, there have been 45 combat clashes. The Russian military carried out seven air strikes using 9 guided aerial bombs and fired 656 times at the positions of Ukrainian troops. 43 kamikaze drones were used.

Situation in the sectors

In the Kharkiv sector, Russians did not conduct any assault operations.

In the Kupiansk sector, seven firefights have taken place since the beginning of the day. One of them is currently taking place in the vicinity of Nevske.

In the Lyman sector, five hostile attacks are currently underway in the vicinity of Terny, Torske, and Bilohorivka.

In the Siversk sector, one Russian attack was repelled, and four more are ongoing. The situation is under control.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the enemy tried to improve its tactical position four times. One of the attacks is currently ongoing in the vicinity of Avdiivka.

The situation is the most tense in the Pokrovsk sector. Eight combat clashes are currently taking place there, and seven attacks have already been repelled near Novooleksandrivka, Prohres, and Novoselivka Persha.

In the Kurakhove sector, one attack was repelled near Kostiantynivka. Fighting continues in the area of Vodiane.

In the Vremivka sector, Ukrainian troops have been repelling an attack near Rozdolne since the beginning of the day.

Russian offensive

After launching an offensive in the Kharkiv region, the Russians stretched the line of fighting towards the Donetsk region. According to British intelligence, Ukrainian soldiers managed to stabilize the situation in the north of the Kharkiv region.

Meanwhile, according to the spokeswoman for the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), Tetiana Sapian, the agency is currently investigating whether it was possible to avoid an enemy breakthrough.
